Asante Twi Textbooks for JHS
Our series of Asante Twi Textbooks entitled Asante Twi Mu Asukɔdɔ are comprehensive textbooks that imbue the learners with communication skills, the comprehension passages are composed of carefully selected words with a specific and special patterns that makes the language a tool for communication rather than a subject studied for examinations purposes. Each passage further teaches moral lessons including but not limited to - self development, biodiversity, cultural heritage, security and many more. The culture and translation aspects are also well treated.
There is a special section, Nsɛmfua Mu Asukɔdɔ, that complements the comprehension passages in terms of vocabulary building. This section comprises specially selected words that are used for various practical exercises. The learner is to choose words from a set of words to complete a given paragraph or passages. Other exercises also involves matching synonymous words from a given passage.
The grammar section invariably deals with the rules governing writing and combination of words for proper communication, this section does consider the teething problems of learners and addresses them as such. It appreciates the language as a first language not necessarily as the mother tongue of the learner, rather, as the common and widely spoken language of the community. Unless the parents consider the Ghanaian 🇬🇭 languages to be abomination, it's the language that the learners use outside their core family communication.
You may follow our various social media handles for Twi-English Dictionary is a Facebook pages that complements the translation section of the textbooks; you can post or ask any questions there. Similarly, Twi Kasa Mu Asukɔdɔ is another Facebook page that complements the Nsɛmfua Mu Asukɔdɔ section; here, various twi words are explained in Twi. It's unfortunate that some people think it's best to define or explain Twi words in a foreign language rather than in Twi. We do not belong to that school of thought.
