ICT and Education Delivery, Synchronicity, Reality and the Way Forward

The traditional education system of chalkboard and classroom has been the medium of formal education delivery for centuries. A system that has outlived with its associated pros and cons. The recent pandemic tested the mettle of this system of delivery where almost all schools in the world were indefinitely closed down. This situation left no one in the condition of oblivion regarding the need for a new mode of educational delivery system.

An alternative and ubiquitous means of teaching and learning that was resorted to during the pandemic was eLearning also known as online learning. E-Learning had already been gaining inroads globally at the higher level of education. The need to adopt online and mobile learning at all levels of the educational system was realized during the COVID-19 era and thus, primary and high schools accept E-Learning as reliable and efficient means for teaching and learning.

A new system of teaching and learning, online learning or eSchool, whose efficiency surpasses the traditional classroom can never be over looked. E-learning is envisaged to take over almost all forms of present teaching and learning delivery systems. This assertion can be supported by how IT has revolutionized various sectors of the economy. Technology has totally taken over the traditional posting or mailing system.   The advent of email and social media platforms has rendered the traditional post offices comparatively unattractive to the public. Universities no longer sell the paper-based admission forms at the post office neither do they post admission letters anymore.

E-Learning is undoubtedly going to replace almost all educational institutions. Only a few learners are going to step at campuses to attend lectures and lessons. Revolution of the banking sector through the use of IT is a classical example; fintech has taken over the traditional processes and procedures that used to take place at the banking halls.

Teaching and learning are naturally concomitant with assessment; thus, E-Learning is reasonably going to promote E-assessment where almost all forms of examinations are going to be internet based.  Examination bodies all over the world have already adopted online form of registration and publication of examination results. This gives cautious optimism that they are all going to resort to absolute internet-based examination which may be called E-Exam. Hence the world is looking forward to the efficiency and refinement of education through the use of IT. For comprehensive E-Learning lesson, .
